Festival puts its heart into the environment

PERFECT festival weather drew huge crowds to Mt Toolbewong near Healesville on Saturday for the Moora Moora Community’s 2008 EarthHeart Festival.
The emphasis of the festival, which is held every two years, has traditionally been on the environment but this year there was an even stronger push to promote an lifestyle aimed at reducing the ecological footprint on the planet. A number of enviro-businesses took the opportunity to promote ways in which every consumer can be part of the solution and local community groups also pitched their projects to keen festival-goers.
Tours of sustainable housing and workshops demonstrating straw-bale construction and how to make a cob wood oven at home drew big crowds.
Fantastic food and an eclectic program of entertainment kept the festival atmosphere bubbling along well into the evening.
