Green is the go for birthday

YARRA Glen bowling club has celebrated 50 years of history, officially opening a new grass bowling green and holding a dinner dance last week.
The new green, which cost about $600,000, was finished in June but officially opened on Thursday 19 September to coincide with the club’s 50th anniversary.
Ryrie Ward councillor Fiona McAllister attended the opening of the green and chairman of the Yarra Glen Bowling Club Peter Nelson said the club celebrated their heritage with a dinner dance on Saturday 21 September.
Mr Nelson said the club had picked up 15 members since the new green, which is made of tifdwarf grass, was installed and the non-synthetic grass would help the club’s members at away games.
