MARYSVILLE is preparing for three days of festivities as the annual Wirreanda Festival draws closer.
This year’s festival will be held on 22, 23 and 24 February.
Organisers have put together a program to cater for locals from tots and teens to older residents, as well as providing plenty of attractions and activities for visitors to the town.
The photographic display and competition and historical display will be open all weekend.
Other activities include a youth disco, vintage car display and chainsaw carving.
The fish-out, incorporating a touch of competition and loads of fun, incorporates a gourmet market offering tastings of local wine and produce.
Fish enthusiasts can then learn all about trout with the Upper Goulburn troutarama.
At the children’s festival, face painting, a hat parade, the fabulous and funny Mad Hatter’s tea party, Marysville Kinder’s famous duck race and marimba and circus activities will keep the youngsters occupied.
The giant community market, a huge attraction of the festival, is building momentum so anyone wishing to secure a stall will need to book soon.
After the festival is over, the fun continues with the popular World’s Longest Lunch at Marylands Country House on Friday 29 February, at Narbethong the next day when the locals celebrate ‘Narby Day’ with a bush dance that will kick off with games, a spit roast by the CFA, and then dancing.
Over the Labour Day weekend in March the 7th annual Back to Marysville is on again, this year incorporating the Back to Wilks Creek and Anderson’s Sawmills reunion.
The Marysville reunion is on 8 and 9 March, with the Wilks Creek reunion on 9 March.
