RESIDENTS in the Upper Yarra no longer need to travel as far as Lilydale for their traditional Chinese medicine needs.
After completing his studies in Melbourne, Christopher Mills has returned to the Yarra Valley, to offer services ranging from acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, Tui Na (Chinese therapeutic massage) and ear candling.
Mr Mills has recently returned to Australia after completing a three-month internship within a Chinese medicine hospital in Shandong province, China.
During his time in China, Mr Mills spent time learning from different professors within departments including acupuncture, Tui Na, and internal medicine, stomatology (digestive disorders), nephrology (kidney disorders), oncology (cancer) and respiratory.
“Traditional Chinese medicine has a history of many thousands of years,” Mr Mills said.
“It aims to treat the underlying causes of the illness or disease as well as alleviating the symptoms.”
Mr Mills said that Chinese medicine was largely based upon “pattern diagnosis” and said that a thorough consultation was important for the practitioner to ascertain a diagnosis to suit an individual’s need.
“Traditional Chinese edicine can help individuals with a broad range of conditions,” Mr Mills said.
“Including arthritis, fatigues, fertility, musculo-skeletal injuries, high blood pressure, depression and anxiety, just to name a few.”
Private health rebates are also available.
Traditional Chinese Medicine operates out of Blue Horizons Health Centre, 2472 Warburton Highway, Yarra Junction.
For bookings or further information call Christopher Mills on 0411 146 067.
