It’s always sad to hear when a newspaper cuts staff or closes down all together.
Even in our fiercest competitors do we build friendships and respect each other’s work.
It was no different when news of the Weekly closing seven titles, as well as it’s Yarra Ranges masthead, broke last week.
I’ve been contacted by some readers telling me it’s our perfect time to shine, others are worried that it could be the beginning of the end for local papers.
Rest assured, at the Mail, we’re here for the long run.
We are the only true local newspaper based in the Yarra Valley and Dandenong Ranges.
We don’t just write about the area, we live, breathe and work here.
We are not just a person on the other end of the line from far and beyond.
We are the faces you see daily.
Whether it is at a school presentation, a council meeting or a local festival – we’ll be there.
You’ll see us in the supermarket and the doctor’s surgery – even enjoying a coffee in one of our many local cafes, because we’re part of your community.
The media landscape is constantly changing, but the Mail has always been and always will be, the best place to get your local news, advertise your local business and place your classifieds.
We’re all about local faces, businesses and stories because we’re locals too.
