FLAMENCO is set to sweep Yarra Valley audiences off its feet when it comes to Warburton on 8 February.
Movimientos, meaning ‘movements’ in Spanish, pushes the limits of flamenco music in form, passion and grace.
It’s the first of the Upper Yarra Art’s Centre’s 2008 program of live theatre and concerts.
Formed in 1990, Arte Kanela Flamenco is widely acclaimed as the most exciting and dynamic force in the Australian flamenco music scene with the artists travelling regularly to Spain to perform, collaborate and train with Spain’s leading flamenco companies and artists.
Two of Seville’s and the world’s leading performers, dancer La Chica and percussionist Andrej Vujicic, are part of the tour.
Arte Kanela’s lead dancer and choreographer Johnny Tedesco will share his passion for flamenco and debut a number of new pieces influenced by leading flamenco artists from Spain.
Musical director and guitarist Richard Tedesco has arranged and written original music for the tour.
Richard Tedesco said audiences don’t have to know anything about flamenco to be moved by it.
“Audiences will love this show because they will feel the energy and emotion,” he said.
Movimientos is part of a Regional Arts Victoria tour of regional centres across Victoria. To book phone 5966 5040.
