Flamenco is set to sizzle

FLAMENCO is coming to Warburton.
Described as a tour-de-force of high energy Flamenco Movimientos is set to sizzle on stage at the Upper Yarra Arts Centre in February.
The production by Arte Kanela Flamenco promises to sweep audiences off their feet with the raw emotive power of flamenco.
Movimientos, meaning, ‘movements’ in Spanish, pushes the limits of Flamenco music in form, passion and grace.
Formed in 1990, Arte Kanela is widely acclaimed as the most exciting and dynamic force in the Australian Flamenco music scene. The company has collaborated with Kate Ceberano and The Cat Empire and been featured on Dancing with the Stars, Spicks and Specks, The Panel and Getaway.
When they are not performing at Fitzroy’s Kanela Bar, the artists regularly travel to Spain to perform, collaborate and train with Spain’s leading Flamenco companies and artists.
This cultural exchange will be returned with two of Seville’s leading performers joining Arte Kanela for the Movimientos tour.
Dancer La Chica and percussionist, Andrej Vujicic will show audiences why they are two of the world’s best Flamenco artists.
This will be the first time that Arte Kanela Flamenco has toured to regional Victoria.
Lead dancer and choreographer, Johnny Tedesco will share his passion for Flamenco with Victorian audiences.
The show is inspired by a total dedication of the performers, who live, breathe and respect Flamenco.
Musical director and guitarist Richard Tedesco has arranged and written original music with original choreography by Johnny Tedesco.
The show will debut an array of new pieces. The material is influenced by leading Flamenco artists from Spain.
“Audiences will love this show because they will feel the energy and emotion. You don’t have to know anything about Flamenco to be moved,” Tedesco said.
Yarra Valley audiences could not have hoped for a more exciting or inspiring start to the 2008 season at the Upper Yarra Arts Centre.
Movimientos, will be in Warburton on Friday 8 February, as part of a Regional Arts Victoria tour of regional centres across Victoria. To book phone 5966 5040.
