YOUNG Yarra Glen singing star Bonnie Anderson will sign off of on a fabulous year at Carols by Candlelight at Yarra Glen Racecourse on Sunday 16 December.
Bonnie has performed for the past three years at the carols night but this year the winner of television’s Australia’s Got Talent competition will team up with another rising star, Alanna Deutrom, for what promises to be an unforgettable performance.
Alanna was voted ‘Girlfriend of the Year’ by Girlfriend Magazine this year and spent a weekend with Delta Goodrem after winning a songwriting competition.
The two aspiring young singers met at the Jaanz School of Singing where they are coached by David Jaanz and both say being on stage together will be “awesome”.
After a busy year, which has included performing on stage with Jimmy Barnes at Rochford Winery and at Crown Casino, Bonnie said she is looking forward to performing Amazing Grace with Alanna in front of a hometown audience.
Carols by Candlelight is presented by the Combined Churches of Yarra Glen and included in the program is a choir of local singers, children from Yarra Glen Primary School who will also sing, and a visit from Father Christmas.
The fun starts at 6.30pm with a community sausage sizzle with carols from 7.30pm to 9.30pm.
Organiser Jenny Bourke said the spirit of Christmas enjoyed by everyone on the night will spread far beyond the Yarra Glen community with all proceeds of the sale of candles, glowsticks and face painting being donated to TEAR Australia.
“TEAR put their funds towards making communities in many parts of the world self sufficient by buying cattle for families, digging water holes and providing seeds to grow vegetables,” she said.
