Community comes together

CELEBRATING Seville is a culmination of all the people, places and services that make the town what it is.
For the third year running, the family fun day will include something for everybody – rides for the kids, market stalls and live entertainment.
The festival is being held on Sunday 11 November this year, and will include a special Remembrance Day service at 11am.
There will be more than 120 market and food stalls, community group displays and activities, emergency services displays, sporting demonstrations, free kids activities, rides starting from $1 a ride, free competitions and pony and donkey rides.
Live entertainment will go on all day featuring the bands Old Mother Fathers and To be Honest, Native American Indian Red Horse, Chloe Braidner, dance performances and a Zumba Fitness display.
The festival involves many areas of the local community, which are represented on the committee and it has beneficiaries that receive a percentage of the profits raised, including Seville Primary School and associations, Seville CFA and Seville Township Group.
It started from humble beginnings in 2009, when the school was looking at ways to become more connected within its own community.
The first year was a great success and little did the school community realise how big the festival would become in future years.
The aim of the festival is to promote community involvement, encourage schools, local organisations, local traders, residents and sporting clubs to get together once a year and enjoy the community.
The Celebrating Seville Festival will be held from 10am to 4pm on Sunday 11 November at the Seville Recreation Reserve, corner of Warburton Highway and Monbulk/Seville Road.
