HEALESVILLE racing was back on track after icy conditions made it difficult for jockeys and their horses over a fortnight ago.
Luckily, fine and sunny conditions prevailed on Saturday and a new and improved track surface was praised by the jockeys.
More than 2000 people turned up to watch the races with many staying until the late afternoon to catch the Flemington Races as well.
Club secretary Peter Jenkins said all the races went very well.
“We only got through three races last time because of the poor track conditions but we’ve since had committee members and volunteers working hard to fix it up,” Jenkins said.
“The jockeys were very impressed by the improved track and the feedback has been excellent.”
The club is now looking forward to the next race meeting on Saturday 15 December, which will be the last before Christmas.
“We’ve got a few festivities planned so you’ll just have to wait and see,” Jenkins said.
