Vandals strike again

POLITICAL vandals are out in force in the lead up to the federal election.
According to police, campaign material has been vandalised from both major parties.
McEwen MP Fran Bailey’s office was recently targeted by vandals with an environmental agenda.
Ms Bailey’s office at the Swinburne TAFE building in Healesville was sprayed with messages including ‘climate criminal’ and ‘no nukes.’
Staff reported the graffiti to the Healesville police at 8am on Thursday last week, the same day Treasurer Peter Costello’s Malvern office was graffitied with similar messages.
Swinburne management did not want to comment on the graffiti and Ms Bailey could not be reached for comment.
In the Upper Yarra several Labor Party signs on the corner of Station Street and Warburton Highway were also vandalised with rude messages.
Healesville Police Sergeant Tony Van Gorp said they had received reports of ‘political vandalism.’
“There has been some political graffiti relating to defacing signage of candidates which is very childish and doesn’t serve any real purpose,” Sergeant Van Gorp said.
“Both sides from major political parties have been affected and I think it’s very disturbing.”
