THE Moora Moora Co-operative Community located on Mt Toolebewong are inviting residents of the Healesville and surrounding areas to become members of their newly established Community Supported Agriculture project (CSA).
CSA consists of a direct relationship between the farmer who grows the food and the local consumer who eats it, collectively cutting out the supermarket middleman.
Luc Rolland and Amy Glastonbury, the force behind the project, say that the CSA is a way for the farmer and consumer to share the risk and benefits of sustainable agriculture.
Last year the Moora Moora Community distributed vegetables each week to 22 families from their garden and proved to be successful.
This year they will be able to provide vegetables for up to 45 families.
Members of the community who join the CSA will also have the opportunity to become involved in the farm through work and socialising, something that Mr Rolland and Ms Glastonbury both describe as strengthening community bonds.
