WANDIN ute enthusiast Casey Kosterman will run the first ever Ute Muster at the Wandin-Silvan Field Days.
The 19-year-old mechanic is expecting big things from the muster, which will be the first in Yarra Ranges and the second muster in Victoria for the coming season.
Interest will be hot among enthusiasts who have been hanging out for the season to start again after the winter break.
“I have a definite 50 entries so far and it looks like we could have as many as 100 utes on show … but then, we could have anything up to 200,” he said.
Utes are a family hobby for the Kostermans.
“Dad has always had utes for work and I ended up buying one that was done up. He is, however, now working on one from scratch.
“I love the farm and doing up the utes,” he said.
“As a mechanic I like that side of it, but I also love doing the engineering and putting it all together.”
Casey gets plenty of practice helping friends and with his mum, Rosemary and 13-year-old sister Annette also keen ute-owners, there is always plenty of call on his expertise.
Casey is looking forward now to pulling the event together on the day after a lot of hard work organising prizes and entertainment.
“We’ve got some big major sponsors and awesome prizes and a great country band, Black Listed, who have signed up to play the whole day.”
The Wandin-Silvan Field Days Ute Muster is on Saturday 13 October, from 10am to 3pm.
Anyone interested in entering the Ute Muster can phone Casey on 0418 134 262.
