JESSE Stirland, goalkeeper for Yarra Valley Soccer Club’s Under 14 team, will represent Victoria in the Victorian Catholic Soccer Association (VCSA) carnival in October.
Jesse, who started his soccer career at Healesville, will join former teamates Trent Scott-Elsley and Daniel Watson on the squad.
The inclusion of three players from the Yarra Valley region in the squad reflects the growing interest in soccer in the valley and the continuing improvement of skill levels of its young players.
Jesse said the squad is putting in some hard practice hours at Knox in preparation for the carnival, which will no doubt be a highlight of his four-year career to date, and of all the players.
Healesville senior goalie Darren Wilson has also made the VCSA squad.
