THE success of the Very Special Kids (VSK) day at Healesville RSL last year has prompted organisers Sue Serra, Megan Prout and Melissa Green, to aim even higher.
“We raised $1500 last year and we’re hoping to double that this year,” said Sue.
The money supports the Very Special Kids hospice for children which provides respite and end-of-life care for children and their families.
The fund-raiser will start on Saturday 22 September, with a trivia night, followed by a great afternoon and evening of fun for the family on Wednesday 26 September.
The family day starts at 4pm with lots of activities including fairy-floss, an animal farm, face painting, a sausage sizzle, a performance by the Badger Creek Primary School Choir and a visit by the VSK’s big pink pig.
The fun – and fund-raising – will continue in the evening with games and giveaways, raffles and other activities.
“We would love people to make up a table of their own but they can just turn up at the door and we will happily match them up with a team,” Megan said.
“The emphasis is on having fun but there are some great prizes on offer,” Melissa added.
