DAFFODIL Day in Healesville raised an amazing $4746.05.
“Healesville people have once again responded magnificently,” coordinator Beth Honeycombe said.
“This year we decided to set up a third stall at the East End and people, particularly some of the older residents at that end of the town were really appreciative.”
The stalls were set up for three days in the main street, at Healesville Walk and in the East End sold daffodils and Cancer Council Daffodil Day merchandise.
Mrs Honeycombe said the stalls not only raised money for research but provided people with an opportunity to share their thoughts and feelings about dealing with cancer themselves, or the experiences of loved-ones with the disease.
“It is a real team effort and I would especially like to thank all the volunteers who contributed their time and Walter and Rita Lawrence of Woori Yallock, who provided us with many beautiful daffodils, hand-picked from their own farm,” Ms Honeycombe said.
The next major fundraiser for the Cancer Council is the Relay for Life to be held in Mt Evelyn on 17 and 18 November.
Mrs Honeycombe has been an active participant and team organiser in previous relays and urged people to get involved and do their bit to make it a big success.
