A WORKING heater will be the first purchase of the Warburton Men’s Shed after it received a $5000 grant from the Warburton Community Bank.
With temperatures hovering around 10 degrees during the colder winter months, a heater has been a priority for some time according to program coordinator Kath Holton.
“The money will be put to good use as there are a number of things that need to be done at the shed to make it a safer, more efficient working environment,” Ms Holton said.
Program assistant Jed Mahoney said the grant, which will also fund a new bench saw, a router, a range of hand tools and the supply of running water to the site, would contribute to the facility’s ongoing success.
“We’re encouraged by increased participation in the program and if we can provide a comfortable environment, that will hopefully continue.”
Ms Holton said the Shed organisers were grateful to the Warburton Community Bank for its generous contribution.
“Without the support of the local community the Shed would not be the popular and vibrant place it is today.”
Warburton Men’s Shed offers friendship for men of all ages plus the opportunity to share experiences and develop new skills.
It is open every Wednesday from 10am to 3pm at the Warburton Business Incubator in Woods Point Road, Warburton (opposite the Caravan Park).
