EBAY bargain hunters were stopped mid-bid last week after Healesville Police pulled the plug on a number of items they suspected were stolen.
Police believe the goods were part of more than $20,000 worth of stolen goods recovered on Wednesday, 30 May, from a house in Smith Street, Healesville. The goods had been posted for sale on eBay.
Police obtained a search warrant after suspicions of stolen property were aroused during an earlier, unrelated, visit to the house.
Sergeant Tony Van Gorp of Healesville police said the haul involved several suitcases full of perfumes, lingerie, cosmetics, shoes, toys, pet products, clothing, handbags and other items.
Sgt Van Gorp said eBay security had acted quickly to delete all suspect items from the system.
A 39-year-old Healesville woman has been charged with 12 counts of theft from various department stores.
She was bailed to appear at Ringwood Magistrates’ Court on 20 July.
