THE significant Mount Wise Homestead will be the focus of the next gala auction at Victoria House Auctions.
The homestead, well known as a prominent home in the Yarra Glen district, has been sold. Now the contents are to be auctioned to the highest bidder.
Gary Latham of Victoria House Auctions says the collection of furniture, china, clocks and paintings is the finest he has ever seen in the valley.
Gary and his wife Stacey have established a reputation at Victoria House Auctions for not only securing the quality items, from antiques through to paintings and collectables, and for their professional approach as auctioneers.
Gary has been associated with auctions and antiques for 16 years and both he and Stacey have a fine eye for Victorian, Georgian and Edwardian periods.
Gary is excited about this auction, which he says is unique. Along with exquisite items of French, Edwardian, Georgian and Colonial Victorian Furniture, the catalogue includes a collection of more than 30 clocks, original French Vitrines, Boulle cabinets, a six leaf Chippendale dining table and an amazing collection of Royal Worcester, Royal Doulton as well as jewellery.
For lovers of art, there are Australian and international artworks and, for lovers of other fine things, bottles of Penfolds Grange wine will also go under the hammer… metaphorically speaking, of course.
The auction will be held at Victoria House Auctions at 11 Union Road, Wandin North, on Sunday, 20 May starting at noon.
