Volunteering can be rewarding

– Kath Gannaway
ANGLICARE Yarra Ranges is looking for people who can make a difference.
As Volunteer Week ended on Sunday, Judy Davidson, Friends Group co-ordinator with Anglicare, said they are hoping more people will be encouraged to become involved in programs, which support children and families in the shire.
She said the rewards, and the ways, of volunteering are many.
“Volunteers not only benefit the children and parents they meet, but the experience of giving a few hours time each month gives great satisfaction.”
People can help out by providing support to foster families through Friends of Kids in Care, males can become involved in the Boys Will Be Men program, and volunteers are always needed for Anglicare’s op-shop and material aid service in Lilydale.
Friends Group training days are being held on Saturday, 26 May and Thursday, 31 May, at Lilydale.
