Topside tipping

FORGET the snags, chops and roast – footy tipping has gripped customers of Rainbow Meats at Chirnside Park Shopping Centre!
Jostling for position among the match winning gourmet sausages, the finely honed (or is that boned) lamb and ruck…sorry rump…roasts, a touch screen sits on the half-flank at Rainbow Meats, ready to accept the first round tips for the 2007 AFL home and away season.
Exuberant former National Sausage King and award winning butcher Frank Russo of Rainbow Meats kicked off the 2007 AFL Football season in grand style on Thursday, 29 March.
A Gala Footy Day opened the 2007 Footy Tipping Competition which features a state-of-the-art touch screen for tipsters to enter their round tips each week.
First prize for the winning tipster at the end of the home and away season is a Mitsubishi Lancer, valued at up to $24,000! As well there are weekly Straight 8 prizes, valued at $500 each to be won.
Entering the competition is simple, Frank said. “Players simply swipe their Lucky Buys loyalty card through the Touch Screen on the counter at Rainbow Meats, and then enter their weekly tips. If a customer doesn’t have a Lucky Buys card, they simply ask the Rainbow Meats team for a card. It’s great fun and there are fantastic weekly prizes to win throughout the season – so there’s every reason to get involved in Australia’s favourite pastime!”

As Chirnside Park’s leading butcher and 2005 and 2006 Overall Victorian Herald Sun Retailer of the Year, Frank said they were very excited about this year’s bigger and better footy tipping competition.
“Last year’s competition was extraordinary, with thousands of existing and new customers getting into the football spirit, all vying for that elusive Straight 8 and the prestige which comes with winning the AFL football tipping competition,” he said.
“This year promises to be a bigger and better competition, with other Chirnside Park Shopping Centre retailers getting involved and celebrating the Australian icon that is AFL.
“Rainbow Meats really values its customers and we love to give something back – plus have a bit of fun,” Frank said.
“As a tragic Carlton supporter, my year has started off very well with Carlton winning the pre-season competition. I just hope they can continue on throughout the AFL season – Carn the Blues!”
