THE biggest woodchop in the Yarra Valley is again being held at the Victorian Timber Festival and this year, for the first time, a Victorian state title will be fought out at Healesville.
With Australian champions Australian champions Brad Turner, Rod Meyer and father and son axemen, Lawrence O’Toole Jnr and Snr, taking to the blocks, there is sure to be plenty of excitement to keep spectators glued to their seats in the woodchop grandstand.
The Hot Chainsaw Race will be heard throughout the hills as the super powered chainsaws are revved up for what is sure to be another exciting event.
Three memorial chops dedicated to long-time, well-respected local men, Len Parish, Dick Richards Snr and Tom Jensen, will recognise their contribution to the timber industry and woodchopping.
There is no doubt at all the woodchopping events are traditionally among the biggest crowd-pleasers of a timber festival.
