THE new memorial at Healesville RSL will be dedicated on Sunday, 25 February.
Reverend John Brownhill, an Australian Army padre and Korean War veteran will dedicate the memorial, which was built last year and used for the first time on Remembrance Day.
“The RSL has been here for quite a long time, but we had no significant memorial within the grounds; it was felt we needed one,” RSL manager Peter McPhee said.
He said it would continue to be used on significant days such as Remembrance Day and Long Tan Day.
The Cenotaph at the Memorial Hall would still be used, he said, for Anzac Day, as would The Nook memorial in recognition of Vietnam Veterans on that day.
Members of the public are invited to attend the dedication at 2pm and join RSL members for a Vera Lyn tribute concert in the members’ lounge, starting at 3.30pm.
