IT MAY look like a bombsite, but no amount of dust and disruption is taking the shine off the vision the RACV has for its $80 million redevelopment of the Healesville Country Club.
Colin Jordan, RACV managing director, announced last week that the project had shifted up a gear with the start of work on the new clubhouse and accommodation wings.
Construction company AbiGroup have been contracted to carry out the redevelopment which will include 80 new accommodation rooms, new conference and banquet facilities, undercover parking, a gym, day spa and heated indoor pool.
The club will continue to operate throughout the works.
Work on the re-designed golf course, roads and other infrastructure, started in June last year.
Mr Jordan said the works included the formation of wetlands adjacent to the Watts River, the establishment of two new water storage areas and a dam, which he said would be part of a highly efficient and environmentally sensitive heating and cooling system for the new clubhouse.
“As well as establishing special bushland protection areas around the site we are replacing 400 trees that had to be removed with 1100 mature plants and around 40,000 native shrubs,” Mr Jordan said.
“We expect the exciting new facilities to attract many more visitors to Healesville and the Yarra Valley region.”
