MARYSVILLE bowler Mark Simmons took out the Yarra Valley Bowling Association Champion of Champion title on Australia Day.
It is the fourth title for Simmons who defeated Warburton’s Leigh Dobson in an exciting play-off at Yarra Junction.
Simmons, 45, who made the change from 10-pin bowling to bowls about 12 years ago was back on the greens at Healesville on Saturday with his team-mates, including 16-year-old son Ben.
He said he enjoys the strategy involved in the small bowl game and the opportunity to play with and against people of all ages and walks of life.
Simmons will now represent Yarra Valley in the Group 7 title against the best of the Flinders and Peninsula associations for a chance to compete against all groups for the state title.
