Demons fire up after recess

THE Powelltown Football Club has announced the appointment of former North Melbourne Kangaroo Phil Krakouer as senior coach for 2007.
The club is planning a comeback after a year in recess.
Club president Doug Cole said Mr Krakouer was committed to assisting the committee re-establish the club.
“Phil is already working to attract a number of key position players to the club,” Mr Cole said.
“I am keen to get things rolling as soon as we can,” Krakouer said. “We have scheduled a ‘meet the coach day’ with light run and barbecue starting at 11am on Sunday, 10 December, at the Powelltown ground.”
He said other pre-Christmas training sessions would be scheduled on the day.
The club has also appointed former Yarra Glen player, Gary Dalton, as Krakouer’s assistant.
An expanded Powelltown Football Club Committee has committed to fielding an U18 side and two netball teams next year as well as the seniors and reserves sides.
Mr Cole said the result followed a well-attended community meeting on 12 November, which was reinforced at the club’s AGM the following week.
“We are looking to re-build the club for the long term through the youth of the local community” he said. “The U18s and the Netball teams are critical to our success in that regard”.
The club has changed its name to the Powelltown Football/Netball Club.
