A good fright out

TRAIN buffs who enjoy a good fright are being taken for a ride this Halloween.
Yarra Valley Tourist Railway (YVTR) is hosting a special ghost trolley ride to celebrate the annual ghoul-fest.
YVTR spokesman, Brett Morton said travellers would get a rare glimpse of the haunted train line after dark.
“The line was built over 100 years ago and a number of lives have been lost in that time,” he said.
“Many people believe the line and the tunnel near Healesville are haunted. There have been sightings.”
Mr Morton said passengers would be taken on a trolley ride along the Healesville line to the tunnel at Tarrawarra.
“There will be a number of haunted experiences along the way. Punters will see werewolves, zombies, trolls, witches, spiders and ghosts – just to name a few things,” he said.
“There will be quite a lot of theatrics including lighting, costumes and dry ice.”
Mr Morton said the Ghost Train would raise cash for YVTR restoration projects and, if successful, could become an annual event.
The Yarra Valley Tourist Railway’s Ghost Train will be held on Saturday, 4 November.
Tickets are $20 for the trolley ride or $35 for the ride and dinner. Trolleys will depart at 8.30pm, 9.30pm, 10.30pm and 11.30pm. Dinners start at 7.30pm and 8.30pm.
No Concessions are available and the experience is not recommended for children under 13.
