STAFF at Healesville Fitness Centre are gearing up to promote health and wellbeing as part of the 2006 Health and Physical Education Week.
The week, which runs from Monday, 9 October, to Friday, 13 October, encourages schools and community groups to get involved in healthy eating and physical fitness activities.
Healesville Fitness Centre owner and manager George Rallis said the centre’s four instructors specialise in working with people to improve their health and fitness.
Mr Rallis said the centre, which comprises a fully equipped gym, an aerobics room, cardio room, a circuit room and three squash courts, offers a wide range of fitness programs and classes.
“The centre offers Pilates, aerobics, step aerobics, body pump, circuit, boxercise and tae box at various times throughout the week,” he said.
“We are focused on helping people reach their fitness goals and we’ll work closely with them to achieve those goals.”
Mr Rallis said participating in a regular gym program was an important part of maintaining overall physical health and wellbeing.
“The fitter we are, the healthier we are.
“Attending the gym is an excellent way to ward off flus and viruses and it can be great for people with arthritis,” she said.
“It is important to have cardio fitness and lifting weights is good for building muscles strength and healthy bones.
“We have clients here who range in age from 14 to 82 years and all of them see the difference going to the gym makes to their health and fitness,” he said.
The fitness centre is open from 6.30am to 9pm every Tuesday and Thursday, from 8am to 9pm Monday and Wednesday, from 8am to 8pm on Fridays and from 9am to 1pm on Saturdays.
Casual visits and three, six and 12-month memberships are available at the Healesville Fitness Centre. Phone 5962 5699 for more information.
