Personalised stamps are a wonderful way to celebrate special occasions such as engagements, marriages, anniversaries or the birth of a new baby.
Although “social” mail has in some ways taken a back seat to electronic communication such as email, SMS and even fax, nothing beats the excitement of getting a letter, invitation or “thank you” in the mail.
With Christmas coming up, personalised stamps with a festive theme add to the excitement of getting a Christmas card in the letter box and are a great way to share a family photo with friends and loved-ones.
You can take a photograph especially for the occasion, or use a favourite snap.
Samantha Lew of Australia Post’s Philatelic Group, says personalised stamps were a world first for Australia Post. “We have had the technology since 1999 and since then the idea has been taken up around the world with the US, Canada and the Netherlands among the countries now celebrating special occasions with a personalised stamp.”
“People can do the engagement, wedding and thank-you cards so they have three different images. We often hear that when people receive personalised invitations in the mail they actually keep them as a keepsake,” she said.
Delivery takes between seven and 10 days and Ms Lew suggests orders for personalised Christmas stamps should be in by the end of November to ensure letters get to their destination in time.
Each sheet has 20 stamps of the same design and discounts are available for orders of two or more sheets. The process is easy. Just pick up an order form at an Australia Post outlet, call freecall 1800 674 412 or visit the Australia Post Stamps website at www.auspost.com.au/pstamps and follow the three easy steps to order on line.
