WARBURTON Christian School students took part in National Tree Day last week.
Students and teachers from prep through to grade six spent the afternoon clearing and weeding an embankment in the school’s grounds.
They also moved about five cubic metres of soil to create new garden beds, planted 30 native trees and sowed seedlings into the school’s vegetable garden.
The school’s principal, Nathan Hill, said staff and students got into the spirit of the day and enjoyed making a difference to the school’s environment.
“The students had a lot of fun doing the planting and really enjoyed being outdoors and working in the garden,” he said.
“Some of the students enjoyed themselves so much they asked if we could do tree planting everyday.”
