The funeral of Marty Sheahan has been announced for Wednesday 16 February.

Mr Sheahan, who worked for Yarra Ranges Council, was found dead in his Warburton family home on Australia Day.

Yarra Ranges Council CEO Tammi Rose expressed her sorrow at hearing the news the day after the passing of the much-valued team member.

“We know many people who worked with and knew Marty will be shocked hearing today’s news and deeply upset about his passing, and we will be offering every support we can,” Ms Rose said.

“The events of last evening will be deeply impacting on the family and friends of the men who passed away and we extend our deepest sympathies to family and friends, and the broader Warburton community.”

Mr Sheahan was found in his home after shots were believed to have been fired at about 8.30pm. A former colleague of Mr Sheahan’s was also found deceased in a toilet block at a reserve on Warburton Highway.

Homicide squad detectives are investigating Mr Sheahan’s death but are believed not to be looking into anyone else in connection with the deaths of both men.

Mr Sheahan’s children set up a GoFundMe page following their father’s death, which has since raised almost $50,000.

Mr Sheahan’s daughter Monique Allen asked the loving Yarra Ranges community to donate whatever they could in the name of the deeply loved and sorely missed Mr Sheahan.

“We hope you raise enough money to pay for Marty’s funeral and to help our mother Mandy financially as much as we can.” Ms Allen said.

Ms Allen also posted on the Yarra Valley Noticeboard Facebook group to notify residents of the details of Mr Sheahan’s funeral.

Mr Sheahan’s funeral will be held at Woori Heritage Funeral Home, 1416 Healesville-Koo Wee Rup Rd, at 2pm.

Friends and family of Mr Sheahan have asked attendees to wear red and white in loving memory of Marty’s beloved Sydney Swans.

The wake will follow at Warburton Alpine pub.
