It’s been revealed the man who was found dead at a Warburton property on Australia Day was Yarra Ranges Council staff member, Marty Sheahan.

CEO Tammi Rose said the Council is deeply saddened by the news.

“Marty had been with Council for six years and was a much-valued member of our Infrastructure Services department. We know that many people who worked with and knew Marty will be shocked hearing today’s news and deeply upset about his passing, and we will be offering every support we can,” Ms Rose said.

“We know the events of last evening will be deeply impacting on the family and friends of the men who passed away and we extend our deepest sympathies to family and friends, and the broader Warburton community.”

Homicide Squad detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding his death at the Clarke Avenue home.

Police attended the property in response to a call that shots had been fired just after 8.30pm last night.

A short time later police responded to reports of a deceased male in Wesburn and located a 57-year-old man in a toilet block at a reserve on Warburton Highway.

The exact circumstances surrounding the incidents are yet to be determined at this stage.

Detectives are not looking for anyone else in connection to the deaths and believe the parties involved were known to each other.
