Black Spur closures

By Jed Lanyon

The Department of Transport has advised that the Maroondah Highway will close between Healesville and Narbethong, through the Black Spur, for four days of tree works starting tomorrow.

Closures will be set up daily from 7am to 5pm on Tuesday 22, Wednesday 23, Thursday 24 and Tuesday 29 October. The road will re-open each night after 5pm.

Electronic signs are in place to safely guide motorists through the detour, using the Melba and Goulburn Valley highways through Yea and Alexandra.

This is a significant detour that could add more than an hour to the journey. Drivers should plan ahead to allow extra time.

A closure during daylight hours is necessary to remove 12 unstable trees that are at risk of falling. Crews will use a four-axel all-terrain crane which takes up most of the road.

The Department of Transport thanks drivers for their patience during these important works.
