Christmas fun for all creatures

A tree kangaroo checks out a special Christmas wreath treat.

Healesville Sanctuary’s animals are joining in the festive season, enjoying some Christmas treats of their own.

Christmas came early for big and small with the Sanctuary’s Tasmanian devils enjoying oversized paper mache Christmas baubles stuffed full of their favourite treats, the tree kangaroo’s home decorated with a beautiful Christmas wreath, the mountain pygmy-possums unwrapping their very own teeny, tiny gifts, and the resident galah sharing the Christmas cheer with visitors.

These festive treats are part of an extensive enrichment program, which includes interactive activities and items that offer variety while encouraging problem-solving and foraging behaviours for the sanctuary’s animals.

Healesville Sanctuary is open to visitors 365 days a year, including Christmas Day.
