THE heritage and history of the Upper Yarra region goes on show on the weekend of 1 and 2 April, with the annual Crank-Up at the Upper Yarra Museum at Yarra Junction.
The museum precinct, surrounding the old railway station, will showcase vintage steam and stationary engines, vintage commercial vehicles, chainsaw carving, haybaling and blacksmithing, along with a great range of demonstrations and displays by community and other local groups.
The two-day event is a wonderful opportunity also to explore the buildings that have come from all around the region and the excellent collections of photographs and other artefacts held by the Upper Yarra Valley Historical Society.
Children will have a rare opportunity to name one of the museum’s most recent attractions, a larger-than-life, carved owl which sits watching over the traditional-style playground.
Crank-Up runs from 10am to 4pm at the Museum, Warburton Highway, Yarra Junction.
